LA Metro Receives Gold Security Award for Homeless Action Plan

The Amer­i­can Pub­lic Trans­porta­tion Authority(APTA)  released its 2017 Rail Safe­ty & Secu­ri­ty Excel­lence Awards.The GOLD Award for Secu­ri­ty  was giv­en to the Los Ange­les Coun­ty Met­ro­pol­i­tan Trans­porta­tion Author­i­ty (LA Metro). “LA Metro devel­oped a Tran­sit Home­less Action Plan which served as the guide to improve safe­ty for pas­sen­gers and employ­ees and coor­di­nat­ed out­reach and engage­ment efforts towards the home­less.  LA Metro estab­lished a 24 hour, 7 day a week hot­line that aligned with the “Peace Over Vio­lence” pro­gram cre­at­ed by the LA Sheriff’s Depart­ment and a non-profit. ”
Com­mu­ni­ties in Motion is a proud part­ner with Metro as we are now imple­ment­ing its Tran­sit Home­less Action Plan.  This plan includes the recent deploy­ment of mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary home­less out­reach teams, work­ing with the Los Ange­les Coun­ty Depart­ment of Health Ser­vices and PATH (Peo­ple Assist­ing the Homeless.
